Contributed by The General Henry Knox Museum
Description
Records indicate that this banjo or lyre clock was given to Henry Gleason, the overseer of the Knox estate in Thomaston, by a member of the Knox family. Research suggests that this clock may have been made by Almon Smith of Boston, ca. 1835. The glass inserts have been back-painted with an eagle holding a shield and schooners.
