Description
For the first time since 1976, Portland's mysterious Valentine Bandit broke with tradition to show some extra love and appreciation to Maine healthcare workers during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic.
Normally only hung in the early hours of February 14th, the Valentine Bandit's traditional paper hearts and banners appeared on the Spring Street emergency entrance of Northern Light Mercy Hospital on April 20, 2020. A heart banner was also hung on a parking garage facing the emergency entrance of Maine Medical Center on Crescent Street in Portland.
The identity of the Valentine Bandit, or Phantom as they are also known, is a decades long mystery that most Portland residents agree is better left unsolved.
