Latin for "I shall rise again", Portland's motto "Resurgam" was adopted in 1832 by a city renowned for its ability to recover from devastation.
Posted as a listing on the the State Theater's upcoming events marquee, "RESURGAM" served as an encouraging reminder that, as it has in the past, so too would future Portland rise out of the current hardship caused by the historic COVID-19 pandemic.
