Description
In a health crisis there are the obvious essential workers such as doctors, nurses, and other first responders, but the COVID-19 pandemic put a spotlight on the many overlooked and often low paying jobs which filled an increasingly important roll in American society.
Among many others, cleaning staff, grocery store employees, delivery drivers, long haul truckers, and postal workers all kept the country running by putting themselves on the front lines of the coronavirus and enabling countless others to work from the safety of their own homes.
Per the recommendation of the Center for Disease Control, those who could do so limited their trips outside, dramatically increasing the demand for online purchasing and home delivery services of all kinds. This in turn put drivers and people working behind the scenes in stores, restaurants, warehouses, and mail sorting facilities at even greater risk.
During this time, many grateful recipients of these services took to writing appreciative messages on mailboxes, front doors, lawn signs, banners, and even on shipped packages to offer a token of acknowledgement and thanks to those too often under-recognized yet essential workers.
This package was mailed to Portland by Abby Berkson Ceramics in Easthampton, Massachusetts.
