Description
Eager servicemen, women, and children waited patiently on both sides of the room while the photographer took a picture of the beautiful table decor before Christmas dinner was served. Making holidays seem festive while away from home was an important part of keeping morale up in the Army.
Several thousand servicemen served in Houlton during World War II. The Houlton base was active from October 1942 to May 1946. It became a POW camp in July 1944 housing German prisoners.
