Description
The bodice of this early 1860s one-piece dress is trimmed with a brown silk braid, meant to create a sloped shoulder affect, a carryover aesthetic from decades past. The same trim appears at the end of the oversized pagoda sleeves. At one point, this skirt was remade, changing the pleats. The piece was well worn, but by whom is unfortunately unknown.
