Description
This drawing of the Wadsworth-Longfellow House depicts the family home circa 1800, when Peleg and Elizabeth Wadsworth lived there with their family. The drawing shows the original two story house, and a store building. A front door detail (at left) depicts the front door with pillars, as it looked around 1920, when this drawing was created.
The property opened as a house museum when Anne Longfellow Pierce (1810-1901) donated the home to Maine historical Society in homage to her brother, poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807-1882).
