Description
This afternoon dress epitomizes mid-1930s style of wide shoulders, accentuating a thin waist. The dress from the winter, 1931-32 season was described as, "Good & smart afternoon gown made of black satin trimmed with white one in the bodice. New cut giving thin figure, tight in the waist with big bow on one side. Square shoulders effect nice."
A Parisian designer sent this line sheet to customers in Maine. It arrived at Maine Historical Society with artist Mildred Burrage's papers.
