Description

Mechanics’ Hall, the location of the Maine Charitable Mechanic Association (MCMA), has been on Congress Street since the 1850s. The MCMA was founded in 1815 as a way for skilled tradesmen to pool their resources and create a library of materials for members to consult. Note the horse and buggy in the lower left hand corner and the other buildings on Congress Street on the right.
