Description
A child’s straw hat is the "boater style" with a double flat brim, rounded crown, and decorative hat band. Instead of typical ribbon or fabric, the hat is encircled with black lace leaves. A grosgrain strap attaches it to the wearer’s head. The style was popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, becoming a children's wear staple by 1880. The hat is associated with the Tufankjian family of New York, and later Portland, Maine
