Description
This copperplate engraving depicts Mechanics' Hall at 519 Congress Street in Portland, the location of the Maine Charitable Mechanic Association (MCMA) since the 1850s. The MCMA was founded in 1815 as a way for skilled laborers to gather and pool together their resources and the building originally served as a place to house their library.
