Description
The January 8, 1998 ice storm caused massive damage to trees and electrical infrastructure throughout Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and areas of Canada, leading to widespread long-term power outages.
In Maine, freezing rain fell for about 50 hours leaving over 200,000 residents without electrical power. Some were without electricity for 23 days, making the storm one of the worst in Maine history.
