Description
The Wadsworth-Longfellow House on Congress Street in Portland is shown in a photograph taken about 1900.
This house served as home for the Wadsworth and Longfellow families, including Peleg Wadsworth (1748-1829), Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807-1882), and Anne Longfellow Pierce (1810-1901).
Anne Longfellow Pierce donated it to the Maine Historical Society to preserve the memory of her brother Henry, a noted poet.
