Description
Maine potato farmers who were attempting to save a depressed industry from imported Canadian potatoes shipped two truckloads to unemployed Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, steel workers on December 15, 1982.
The farmers claimed that both industries were impaired by foreign imports. Potato house worker Peter Levasseur loaded10-pound bags at the William Doyen warehouse in Mapleton.
