Description
Bangor and Aroostook Railroad snow plow built by the Russell Snow Plow Company of Ridgeway, Pennsylvania. This snow plow is located on a siding in Van Buren.
The snow plows had living quarters for the operator because they were sometimes gone "on the road" for days. In the rear of the car was a compartment for the operating pistons that powered the plow wings and the "flanger." The flanger feet cleared snow away from below the rail height to make clearance for the wheels.
