Description
Book publisher Brown Thurston was born in Winthrop on Oct. 6, 1814, and died in Portland, April 12, 1900.
He published biographical sketches and genealogies of local people and compiled articles on the history of Aroostook County into a book. He also printed maps and reference works.
He was the first printer in Portland to use the power press, and he printed all of the schoolbooks for Portland schools for a time.
