Description
The trawler East Hampton is shown at the early stages of construction at Cobb & Butler shipyard in Rockland.
The Portland Company equipped the vessel in 1913 for Sickler and Meadows of the Atlantic Fertilizer Company.
The Navy acquired it in 1917 and it became the USS East Hampton. She was used for minesweeping, icebreaking, patrol, and later for submarine escort.
