Description
This folder contains records relating to colonial land settlement and distribution, created by or related to the Plymouth Company, otherwise known as the Kennebec Proprietors, who laid claim to roughly 1,500 square miles on either side of the Kennebec River in the decades before the American Revolution. Includes extracts from the Plymouth Company records dating back to 1649, including copies of Govenor William Dummer's conference treaty with Wenemouett, Penobscot Sachem and Sagamore, dated 1726, noted as belonging to Belcher Noyes.
