Description

The Houlton Grange Store float, pulled by four teams of Percherons, "was a large lumber wagon rented from Fred Vose's Lumber Mill. Half-way around the parade route one rear wheel broke and the wagon had to be taken out at the intersection of Bangor and Military Streets. At this time Houlton Grange Store was the largest general store in Houlton. It also was the largest Grange Store in the world at that time.

"The store burned Dec. 25, 1960. It was located corner Green and Grange Streets." (Text from the back of the picture.)

Hasling McGowan is the teamster. Houlton Grange officers are to the right and store clerks are behind the float.
