Description
"The Portland Company Bulletin No. 8 shows the boilers and machinery being installed in the passenger side-wheeled Bay State. The Bay State was built in 1890 for the Eastern Steamship Company. Note that at this time the great 33-foot diameter paddle wheels have not yet been mounted. These paddle wheels were built by the company, and all of the engineering drawings are available at the Maine Historical Society in Portland." --Fletcher, David H. "The Portland Company 1846-1982."
