Description
The Portland Breakwater Lighthouse in a photo taken in 1962 for the Historic American Buildings Survey.
The structure is cast iron with brick backing on a granite base. It has six iron Roman Corinthian engaged columns, and entablature with dentil cornice and acroteria.
It was built in 1855 and rebuilt in 1875. It was abandoned in 1943.
