Description
This print depicts Abraham Lincoln on his deathbed, surrounded by family members and members of his cabinet. The title reads "Death of President Lincoln/At Washington D.C. April 15, 1865/The Nation's Martyr." The individuals identified across the bottom are (from left to right): Mr. Chase CJ, Secretary McCulloch, Attorney General, Vice President Johnson, Charles Sumner, Secretary Stanton, Secretary Wells, Robert Lincoln, Surgeon General, President Lincoln, Mrs. Lincoln & Tad, and Miss Harris.
Secretary of the Treasury Hugh McCulloch was born in Kennebunk, Maine in 1808.
