Description
This Spruce Partridge was shot by A. Z. McBride in 1900.
These birds are found throughout the north east. They are variously known as fool hen, spruce grouse, spruce partridge, Franklin grouse, Canada grouse, swamp grouse, black partridge. Charles West devotes a chapter to them in his book, "The Aroostook Woods," 1892
