Street rail cars at Eliot, 1903

Description

At Rosemary Junction in Eliot in the fall of 1903, Berwick, Eliot & York car No. 20 stands ready for its run down the "air-line" to York Beach, No. 18 behind it has just arrived from Kittery Ferry, and No. 22 at the rear is ready for its run to South Berwick Junction and Dover, New Hampshire.

Rosemary Junction was built on land owned by the Rosemary Cottage, established in 1888 as a home for needy mothers and shop girls from the Boston area. Hannah Farmer, a native of Eliot, ran the Cottage.
