Description
George Foster Talbot (1819-1907) was born in East Machias and graduated from Bowdoin College in 1837. He was a lawyer who practiced in East Machias and Skowhegan. He was appointed U.S. District Attorney in 1861 and moved to Portland in 1864.
Talbot was a supporter of abolitionist William Lloyd Garrison and supported liberal causes.
