Description
The bench hook is thought of as an extra hand for the sailmaker, particularly for seaming and roping.
Its lanyard is secured onto the bench to the right of the sailmaker, and hooking into the canvas, allowing the sailmaker to tension the work with the left hand and stitch it with the right.
This bench hook was from the shop of Amos Perkins Lord.
