Description
This tool is refashioned from an old file or rasp. A basic necessity commonly encountered in the tool kits of horticulteralists, especially fruit growers (apples, pears, cherries etc.) maintaining orchards in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Size: 8 5/8" long with a 3 1/4" blade.
The grafting froe was used in grafting fruit trees. The long cutting edge makes the initial split in the receiving tree. The extended point is used to open the slit for insertion of the new wood.
