Description
Charles "Carl" Akers (1835-1906) was born in Saccarappa, studied art in Rome and was a noted sculptor and crayon portraitist. His brother Benjamin Paul Akers also was a well-known sculptor.
Carl Akers left Portland after the fire of 1866, then went to Boston and eventually to New York and Connecticut.
