Description
The barque Sacramento, with Captain Reid at the helm, arrived in Portland Harbor on October 19, 1887. Bound for Buenos Aires, the ship docked at Ryan & Kelsey’s chandlery for provisions. Owned by British interests, the Sacramento sailed between Bristol, England, and South America, often docking at Portland to deliver coal for the Grand Trunk Railroad along its route.
This image was included in an album owned by Portland civil engineer William S. Edwards. Written beneath the image is "English Barque - Portland Harbor. October 19, 1887."
