Description

Clay Cove in Portland as it looked in 1840. Charles Quincy Goodhue (1835-1901) made the sketch as a series of drawings of Portland before the fire of 1866.

Clay Cove was an important commercial center in Portland and was filled in when Commercial Street was built.
