Description
The Sunbeam II was photographed navigating icy waters. Sunbeam II was 80 feet long, had a 16-foot beam and an 8-foot draft, and was in service from 1926-1939. Albert E. Condon of Thomaston designed the ship, and JD Morse Shipyard of Damariscotta built it. The ship's hull was sheathed in Greenheart South American wood to break through ice.
Maine Seacoast Mission has been a trusted friend along the Maine coast since 1905. Rooted in a history of compassionate service and mutual trust, the Mission seeks to strengthen coastal and island communities by educating youth, supporting families, and promoting good health.
