Description
The captain of the Sunbeam III, Captain Ralph Frye, was photographed looking toward an unnamed lighthouse. The image is titled "Last Look," and is included in the Mission's publication Boats of the Maine Sea Coast Mission and the Men who sailed them 1905 to Present. Sunbeam III, designed by TAMS Inc. of New York and built by the Harry G. Marr Shipyard in Damariscotta, Maine, was in service from 1929 to 1964. This vessel measured 72 feet in length, with a beam of 17½ feet and a draft of 6 feet. It was powered by a 250hp diesel engine and had a cruising speed of 10 knots.
