Contributed by Maine Seacoast Mission
Description
Madame Romney was photographed on Nash Island in an Easter bonnet with sheep 1967. Nash Island is now home only to sheep and gulls. A century ago, a lighthouse keeper's daughter, Jenny, tended a flock of sheep on a neighboring island. Today, their descendants roam these islands alongside the gulls.
Since 1905, the Maine Seacoast Mission has built trust along the Maine coast, working to strengthen coastal and island communities by educating youth, supporting families, and promoting health.
