Description
Stars of the Summer Night is a romantic serenade composition. Many composers set Portland native, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s poetry to music over the decades. As late as 1955, Paul Weston and his Orchestra recorded Stars of the Summer Night on Blue Note Records.
Born in Darmstadt, Germany, composer Henry Kleber’s family moved to the Allegheny region of Pennsylvania when he was a child. Kleber was a musician and teacher, known as famed composer Stephen Foster’s piano instructor. Philadelphia printers, Lee & Walker published the sheet music.
