During the Governor's Convention of 1925, organizers treated guests to seaplane rides. These planes took flight from Thompson's Pond, near Poland, Maine. The Governor of Maine, Ralph O. Brewster, the wife of the Lieutenant Governor of Rhode Island, Ellen H. Smith, and the wife of the Governor of Virginia, Helen Trinkle, all enjoyed one such flight. The two women stand on the wing of the seaplane.
