Description
Madawaska Lake became a popular recreational destination for Maine's Swedish colony, consisting of the communities of Westmanland, Stockholm, and New Sweden. Today, its shores feature camps as well as year-round residences.
Though some American Art Post Card Company postcards include a series number at the top, the "1938" inscription is likely the year the photograph was taken. The item was postmarked in Van Buren on August 20, 1941, and was addressed to Gertrude V. Gallagher of Milford, Massachusetts.
