Description
Mabel Walker Willebrandt, Assistant Attorney General of the United States from 1921 to 1929, stands on the rocks outside Mrs. Maud Wood Park's property in Cape Elizabeth. The Evening Expressinterviewed Willebrandt to discuss the issues of prohibition enforcement in Maine. She drew attention to the state's coastal access that provided entryways for bootleggers and smugglers. The newspaper published the interview on September 2, 1925.
Willebrandt was a staunch defender of prohibition, earning the nickname "Prohibition Portia."
