Description
Elsie Lewsey of Montreal and Cushing's Island poses with two trophies won for her second-place finish in the inaugural Peaks to Portland swim in 1927. Lewsey, the only woman to complete the race, finished in two hours and twenty-four and a half minutes.
Lewsey was born in 1905. She was a member of the Montreal YWCA and their water polo team.
