Description

This image is a studio portrait of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow seated in a three-quarter view. He wears a double-breasted jacket with two buttonholes visible in his left lapel. A carved rosette of the chair is visible right.

The image is inscribed with: "AWL [illeg], from N.A." written in ink in cursive verso. "Lamson / Portland, Me." is printed in gilt underneath the image. The photographer's stamp includes "Lamson" printed in red ink diagonally.
