General Levi Hubbard and his son built this home in 1807, originally serving as the town's first Masonic Hall. In 1860, Hiram Hubbard added a third floor and later opened “The Hubbard House” hotel, which ran until 1938. Purchased by Mrs. B. C. Peabody in 1940, it remains in her family.
The property also includes the Albion K. Parris Law Office, built in 1811. Parris, a congressman and governor of Maine, first occupied the office, later used by Enoch Lincoln, also a congressman and governor. Over the years, it housed other lawyers and eventually became a candy store. During the Civil War, townspeople gathered here to hear updates on the fighting. This building remains the only intact example of its kind in Oxford County.
