Description

Architecture commission for John Sedgwick Hyde at an unknown address in Bath, ME, 1913–1915. The commission is associated with John Calvin Stevens and John Howard Stevens Architects. This item is part of the Stevens Architects drawings and records collection.

This "Farmer's Cottage," was to be part of Elmhurst, a historic house at 616 High Street in Bath, Maine. Now the main building on the Bath campus of The Hyde Schools, it was built in 1913 for John Sedgwick Hyde, the son of Bath Iron Works (BIW) founder Thomas W. Hyde. It was designed by John Calvin Stevens, and is an example of Colonial Revival architecture.
