In 1906, John Brooks "Jack" Howard (1875-1971) photographed two men in a canoe, possibly on First Roach Pond, transporting a slain deer with a hilly landscape in the background. The original negative is stored with others labeled "Maine Trip 1906" in a paper sleeve.
