Description
Nellie Alley Urquhart and her two children pose for a photo on Head Harbor Island. Sealand, located on the southwest side of the island, reached a population of 117 at its peak in 1880, with 70 students enrolled in its school that same year. The school closed in 1937.
Maine Seacoast Mission has been a trusted friend along the Maine coast since 1905. Rooted in a history of compassionate service and mutual trust, the Mission seeks to strengthen coastal and island communities by educating youth, supporting families, and promoting good health.
