Contributed by Maine Seacoast Mission
Description
Mrs. Muir’s students pose for a group photo in front of the Mission Church, built in 1910. Head Harbor Island thrived with 117 residents in 1881, supported by granite quarrying. The church was dismantled in 1941, and its stained glass was repurposed in a Frenchboro church.
Maine Seacoast Mission has been a trusted friend along the Maine coast since 1905. Rooted in a history of compassionate service and mutual trust, the Mission seeks to strengthen coastal and island communities by educating youth, supporting families, and promoting good health.
