Description

Lithograph with family record written: "John Jewell who was born March 22nd, 1763. Died April 22nd 1831. Mary Jewell the wife of John Jewell born June the 8, 1779, died Oct 18 1856." Lith. & Pub. by N. Currier, 2 Spruce Street, New York.

The lithograph was published by Nathaniel Currier who eventually became a partner in the Currier and Ives Company.

John Jewell lived in Cornish and according to his widow's pension application held by the National Archives, he served in the Revolutionary War "as a private in the regiment commended by Colonel Reed in the line of the State of New Hampshire."

Descendants of John Jewell settled in Baldwin.
