Description
The fishing schooner George W. Pierce is shown in Portland about 1895. It was built in Southport in 1867. It probably was named after a George W. Pierce of Southport who had died in 1866.
A number of Southport Pierces were fishermen. In 1895, Orren B. Whitten of Portland was listed as the managing owner of the vessel.
