Description
Another fine production of the Billings clan - this one is by the Augusta drawknife maker, first name and date of the manufacturer are not yet available.
Size: 12 1/2" long, 4 3/4" wide cutting edge, 14 1/2" beveled steel handle, 4 3/4" long turned wood handle.
Signed: "BILLINGS AUGUSTA".
A light slick used for making clapboards. It is intended for splitting rather than cutting therefore does not have a sharp edge. The crossbar handle facilitates twisting motion required for completing the split.
