Description
The frozen Meduxnekeag River down stream from Houlton looking back to Houlton. A wagon track runs along the frozen river and then up along the shore. Transporting heavy and bulky goods on frozen rivers was the best way to move them in and out of the county before the arrival of the railroad.
In this picture, trash has apparently been dumped on the ice.
