Description
In August 1910 Eliot celebrated the one hundredth anniversary of its incorporation as a town. As part of a weeklong festival, houses throughout Eliot were decorated with patriotic bunting. The town selectmen hired Ira M St. Clair, a photographer from Portsmouth, New Hampshire, to photograph the festivities and the many decorated homes. The St. Clair studios later turned the photographs into postcards, which were widely sold, throughout the Seacoast area.
