Description
John Lovett was a regular vendor in Cambridge, Massachusetts who sold fruit, and maybe liquor also, to Harvard's students. He was the only vendor allowed to sell his wares in "The Yard."
More familiarly known by students as "John the Orangeman," Lovett began his career in Cambridge about 1881 and worked into the 20th century. He died in 1906.
The picture was previously identified as John Gott.
